Prospective PhD Applicants

Unfortunately, I am unlikely to respond to your email, but this does not mean that I am not interested in your application. The best way to get my attention is to apply through the Computer Science Department and list me under faculty you are interested in working with. I may look for one or two exceptional students next year (Fall 2026 admission), but this may change. If you are finding the cost of the application challenging, you can find the wavier form here. If you are not eligible, then reach out to me with your application materials by Nov 30th.

Masters or Undergraduate Students

If you are a BU student and want to join my group, the best time to reach out to me is in July-early September. Outside of this window, I would encourage you to attend our AIR seminars and talk to the PhD students. If you find some mutual interests, you can reach out to me at that time about the potential project. These collaborations tend to be in the form of a directed study and/or a thesis. I typically do not host visiting or summer students outside of specific programs (which are most often announced on my webpage in the Spring).

Requests for Recommendation Letters

I am happy to write letters for those who work directly with me on research. For course-based letters, you have to have an "A" and be in the top 10% of the class, and I will limit the number of recommendations to three per application cycle. If you would like a letter from me, please send me your resume, unofficial transcript, and personal/interests statement by October 31st, and I will let you know if I can write your letter within the following week or so.
